We are using some non-recurrent funding to upskill community pharmacists in Lincolnshire in treatment of minor illnesses with a particular focus on ENT and the use of Otoscopes. This training is for one full day and not being funded from the levy but from alternative sources. We hope to include an otoscope as part of the training package.

The course usually runs from 9am (arrival by 0845) to 4.30pm. It comprises seminars on the assessment and management of minor illness, including current national guidance and research evidence. Practical, focussed and intensive, it covers all the important facts and explain the basic principles in an engaging and accessible way.

Course Content
• Minor illness for non-doctors
• Tips on diagnosis and clinical examination, particularly use of the otoscope
• Assessing children
• ENT-focussed clinical topics: sore throat, earache, colds and flu, cough, sinusitis, fever, hay fever

Places have initially been offered to those who expressed an interest in an earlier survey. The remaining places are now available to contractors who have not already booked a place on a first come, first served basis.

Closing date for booking a place is 19th August 2022, at which time those contractors who expressed interest in additional slots will be offered any remaining places.
